Developing Playing Ability: Optimizing the Learning Process and Encouraging Quality Practice

By tradition, music educators have placed most of its emphasis on the development of physical skills through following written notation and practising deliberately. With the recent trends in education and studies related to sustaining student’s interest in music-making, initiatives to enhance the learning process and encourage quality practice have emerged.

This webinar will give emphasis on applying holistic approaches in teaching music which will involve understanding of how the body, mind and emotions function and work together in the process of learning and performing music. The different stages of learning and some recommendations for practicing will also be discussed during the session. This will provide teachers with ideas on how to manage time and cultivate performance skills-building while taking care of the students’ wellness.
